Shari Dyer (b.9/26/50)
Fourth Degree Black Belt
is co-owner, business manager and instructor at Aikido of Diablo Valley (ADV).
She started training in Aikido in 1980 in Estes Park, Colorado.
In 1981, Dyer moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she was raised,
to pursue her interest in Aikido. Aikido of Diablo Valley opened its doors the
week before. After a few years, she included business manager responsibilities
to her training as a student. In 1986, Dyer was invited by Rowell sensei to
join him as a co-owner of the dojo.
Shari Dyer helped introduce and teach
Aikido in the old Soviet Union, and has taught conflict management courses,
based on Aikido principles, for the city of Walnut Creek and for Unity Church.
She is especially interested in communicating Aikido's powerful
inner principles, and their application in daily life. These principles include centering,
relaxation, breath awareness, energy training, grounding, receiving and compassion.
