Shodan: 1st Degree Black Belt
(120 hours/12 months)
All basic techniques and previous requirements plus:
Kumitachi: 1 - 5

Tantodori: A different technique from each:
Shomenuchi
Yokomenuchi
Tsuki
Ushiro (two techniques)
Tachi dori: Total of five different techniques.
Attacks will be:

Randori: 3 - 5 people attacking
Nidan: 2nd Degree Black Belt
(400 hours/30 months)
All basic techniques and previous requirements plus:
Kumitachi: First twelve basic kata
Kumijo: First six basic kata
Randori: Three people attacking with shinai
Sandan: 3rd Degree Black Belt
(3 years consistent training)
All basic techniques performed to demonstrate the student's understanding of the principles of kokyu tanden ho, and all previous requirements.
Yondan: 4th Degree Black Belt
Only by recommendation at the discretion of Saotome Shihan or Ikeda Shihan.
