The Highest Ethic of Defense |

Defender must deal with an unprovoked attack. |

Using skill and control, Defender neutralizes the attack. |

Attacker is left alive - not even seriously harmed. |
A Less Admirable Ethic |
 |
Defender must deal with an unprovoked attack. |
 |
Using skill and self-interest only, Defender defends himself. |
 |
Attacker's life is destroyed, or he is killed outright. |
An Unethical Form of Defense |
 |
A physical attack is verbally or otherwise provoked. |
 |
The physical attack is met with a severe and skilled response. |
 |
Attacker's life is destroyed, or he is killed outright. |
Lowest Ethic of Defense |
 |
An unprovoked, physical attack is initiated. |
 |
Attacker uses his skill to destroy the other. |
 |
The other is left dead. |
 |
It is impossible to harm another without harming yourself in the process.
